The Mayor's Message

Welcome to the 2009 Benalla Festival program from 5-8 November celebrating 50 years of roses.

The Benalla Festival will show you a fantastic weekend of food, wine, art and culture, all set amongst Benalla's picturesque lake foreshore and Botanical Gardens, culminating in a magnificent fireworks display over Lake Benalla.

This year's events program presents many well loved and established events as well as a new range of events from Rock band The Galvatrons, A Day in the Gardens Market, Roving Poets, Twilight cricket and much more all made possible by the dedication of the Festival Committee.

Benalla Rural City Council is proud to support this event run by the community for the community and thanks the very generous local sponsors.

You'll find the festival is a great way for the whole family to enjoy the many and varied attractions of the Benalla region. I look forward to seeing you at the 2009 Benalla Festival.

Welcome to the 2009 Benalla Festival!

Roses and Benalla are an unbeatable team.

Inspiring poetic, symbolic - young and old special meaning to the rose all round the world.

This year's Festival brings the roses of Benalla to the fore, where so many believe they should be. Of course the Festival committee agrees and has built a program which allows a variety of elements of the relationship that Benalla has with roses.

Competitions, exhibitions, opening of new gardens, a Day in the Gardens, all of these events have a rose theme. Add the time honoured Street Pareade, Fireworks, FReeZA event, guest artists, exhibitions, vintage cars, plane display. Bring the family to Benalla for a fun weekend. Just as it is intended to be. This program contains all the information you need to enjoy this special time of the year, and we hope to see you at one or more events.
